HIGH SCHOOL DIPLOMA STUDY
STUDY TO EARN YOUR GED ONLINE
Students seeking to earn their High School Diploma equivalency before beginning their theological studies at MCU need no longer drive long distances to sit for hours in a lecture hall and plow through hundreds of pages that "pay back" your big investment of time with a small amount of learning!
Starting this year, Miami Christian University and InstantCert Academy have affiliated to offer students the opportunity to study to earn their General Educational Development (GED) diploma through the GED testing service. GED tests are a group of five tests which (when passed) certifies that the taker has American or Canadian high school-level academic skills.
Getting your GED is the perfect option for working parents, home-schoolers, older students, super-achievers, fast learners, slow learners, returning students, and many others. More than 15 million people have received a GED credential since the program began. One in every seven Americans with high school credentials have received the GED, as well as one in 20 college students.
Only individuals who have not earned a high school diploma may take the GED tests. The tests were originally created to help veterans after World War II return to civilian life. Common reasons for GED recipients not having received a high school diploma include immigration to the United States or Canada, homeschooling, and leaving high school early due to a lack of interest, the inability to pass required courses, mandatory achievement tests, the need to work, personal problems, etc.
Our goal is to prepare you for the GED as quickly and efficiently as possible, so instead of trying to teach you four years of high school, the InstantCert Academy has developed a unique two-phase approach: Phase One is "Foundational Knowledge." There's no way to succeed on the GED without learning some basics. You'll be taught exactly what you need to know so you can take the exam with confidence... and pass! (And they won't waste your time with what you don't need!) Phase Two is "Reading & Grammar Skills." The Reading, Science, and Social Studies sections of the GED all test your ability to read a passage and answer questions about what you read. They require very little knowledge on the subject itself. That's why InstantCert Academy focuses your learning on reading comprehension skills rather than the individual topics of the test. This phase finishes up with some lessons on grammar.
Why wait to get your High School Diploma equivalency? You'll be proficient and ready to pass the GED in only a few weeks -- so you can start college more quickly!
